4G STEM Camp (Girls + Games + Gadgets = Genius) is aimed at overcoming barriers for girls interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Partners include University of Illinois Extension Fulton-Mason-Peoria-Tazewell Unit, Bradley University Center for STEM Education, and Greater Peoria EDC. The camp is designed around visits to area STEM sites (Farnsworth Group, Unity Point, Advanced Medical Transport, Precision Planting/Integris, Illinois American Water,  Therkildsen Field Station at Emiquon, University of Illinois-Springfield and The Nature Conservancy in Illinois). Successful women working in STEAM careers provide an orientation to their work, including the skills, technologies, and strategies used to excel in their jobs. 4G STEM Camp introduces girls entering sixth, seventh, and eighth grade to careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). The camp includes 5 days of hands-on activities, lab experiments, and field trips to area businesses offering STEM-related careers. The next 4G STEM Camp is set for June 24-28, 2019. The fourth annual STEM Academy is an amazing week-long experience sponsored by Pearl Technology, Richwoods Township and  University of Illinois Extension, Fulton-Mason-Peoria-Tazewell Unit. At this year’s STEM Academy, we will be working with autonomous cars.  The students will assemble and program AWS (Amazon Web Services) DeepRacer cars.  The DeepRacer is a 1/18th scale car that uses Artificial Intelligence to drive itself.  The students will learn about Reinforcement Learning, a subset of Machine Learning, and will use tools on AWS to teach their cars how to navigate a race track.  This is not…
